Frequently Asked Questions

1. How old do I have to be to take the tests?

 In general, you must be 18 years old and not enrolled in a public school to take the GED® Tests.  Call 276-619-4396 or 1-800-322-7748 for assistance. 

2. Do I need to live in Virginia?

 No, you are NOT required to be a Virginia resident to take the GED® test here. You only need a valid government-issued photo I.D. when registering. 

3. What subjects are covered on the GED Test?

 The GED® Tests are a series of four tests with questions covering language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. 

4. What do I need to score to pass the GED Test?

 Testers need a minimum score of 145 on each of the individual tests. 

5. How do I access my scores?

 Test scores may be obtained online at MyGED® by using your login information. .

6. I lost my transcripts/certificate. What should I do?

 Request a copy of your transcript if you tested before 2014 or on paper.

7. When and where do I take my test?

 There are four testing sites within the Mt. Rogers Regional Adult Education Program (MRRAEP) area.  You may create an account and schedule a test by going to www.ged.com.  The test is given only at authorized Pearson VUE test centers:

8. What accommodations are available on the GED Test for people with disabilities?
